Finally, a representative of the DPO Academy will discuss how the GDPR law will impact hospitals.

]]>Key stakeholders will join the Greek Pavillion during the most influential healthcare IT event in Europe, the eHealth Week in Malta 10-12 May, 2017.
eHealth Week will bring together the highest level speakers from across the globe and leading healthcare IT professionals from all 27 EU member states. The focus of this years’ conference will be on “Data for Health” and the key to personalised sustainable care and will include educational sessions covering the hottest topics in the industry: from interoperability and data exchange to blockchain in healthcare and the increasing role of social media.
Greece’s participation, according to HIMSS, is one of the most highly anticipated activities within the three day conference.
Greece’s delegation and country pavilion hosts carefully selected health transformers, entrepreneurs and stakeholders taking initiatives nationally and internationally leading the way to digital health integration and real impact in the healthcare system. Delegates from Greece will present the challenges they face and how they have found ways to overcome them to successfully integrate ICT solutions nationally in this newly evolving ehealth state system. Speaking Session Advancing eHealth In Greece
On Thursday 11 May, the Managing Director of Greece’s ePrescription service IDIKA will explain the intricacies of successfully fielding over 5.5M prescriptions and 2.9M patients monthly, while ICT experts will talk about PHRs, APIs, telehealth & monetisation. Despite Greece’s continuing economic crisis, we discuss potential financial and business growth, challenges and opportunities, given its unique morphology and position in the region between Europe and the Middle East.

]]>Lately, there are concerns over the news on controversial health data access by State authorities. What would it take for our health records to be truly private, controlled by ourselves and safe from the potential manipulation of ill-willing authoritarian rulers? Can blockchain technology be a solution? Is a distributed system feasible for personal health records? eHealth Forum turned to a team of developers from NTUA and asked them whether it can be done.
With a view towards the future, George Efthymiou from the medical_io team* presented their ambitious plan to deliver a distributed PHR system that will provide real data privacy. Medical uses blockchain technology & cryptographic processes to provide a unique infrastructure to patients’ medical records.
On the reality side, Athina Triantafillidi, IT Director at IDIKA presented “The Greek ePrescription System: An eHealth suite for the support of Primary Health Care”; explained the developments behind the eGovernment Organisation for Social Security and what led them to be considered one of the leading European examples in implementing a digital reference for all those living in Greece.
Finally, the eHealth Forum team presented the participants and the planned actions of the Greek delegation and Pavilion at the largest EU event, the eHealth Week to be held in Malta on 10-12 May 2017.

]]>In the first successful Athens Digital Health (eHealth) Meetup organised at Athens Chamber of Commerce, on February 15th, 84 people participated. The discussion was held around digital health applications in our daily life as well as Greece’s position in this dynamic market. Also, eHealth Forum’s new plans and strategy for 2017 were presented by Lina Nikolopoulou, Managing Director of eHealth Forum.
At this 1st Athens Digital Health Meetup, two aspects of digital health were presented by speakers Haralampos Karanikas, PhD, Consultant, eHealth Researcher at the Athens Medical Society, attempted to answer the question “Does Greece have an eHealth strategy plan?”; and Thanos Stavropoulos, Postdoc Researcher at CERTH-ITI & CEO of Carealia talked about “The Impact of Digital Health on Our Everyday Lives” and presented an application for monitoring & data analytics from dementia patients developed by Carealia.
